Within the realms of the ordinary back gardens this series
explores gardening at its most diverse. From the medicinal to
the Mediterranean and the big to the small. This series tours
around the gardens of Sussex and Kent, in a bid to uncover the
secret gardens open to the public in aid of the U.K. National
Garden Scheme.
The host of ‘Secret Gardens’ is Chris Collins, a well-known
presenter on a top children’s programme in the UK. A down to
earth cockney presenter, who instantly dissolves all the
stereotypes of gardening experts. He was previously head
gardener at Westminster Abbey, and since then Chris has
transitioned into TV, and continues to passionately profess his
enjoyment of gardening.
Secret Gardens not only promotes the U.K National Garden
Scheme and the charities it supports, but it essentially
encourages community involvement in gardening and the
scheme.
A new series is in production at present. Consisting of 10 brand
new episodes, Chris Collins goes deeper into the NGS Scheme,
exploring diversity in the everyday gardens of the general
public.
